Short-term, part-time courses designed to meet the needs of industry and the communities are offered. Continuing workforce education classes provide students with an opportunity to supplement their present job skills or to explore a new career. Most classes are offered in the evenings. See program schedule for class listing and times. For tuition purposes students must meet Florida residency status.

ADMISSION PROCEDURES FOR CONTINUING WORKFORCE
Students may register in person. Applications are available at the ITECH student services desk.

Complete an application Pay required tuition. (It is recommended that the students register in advance in order to secure a space in the class.)

ITECH reserves the right to changed dates, times and fees and cancel continuing workforce education classes due to low enrollment.

ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS – ADMISSIONS
Adult Education provides assistance to help adults learn academic skills necessary to become successful in their career choices and in their communities. This category includes Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development (GED) preparation, Vocational Preparatory Instruction (VPI), English Literacy for Career and Technical Education and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). For information regarding the specific adult education program refer to the program section of this catalog.

ADMISSION PROCEDURES FOR ABE/GED

Students applying for admission to ABE/GED programs must:

Provide identification such as a Florida driver‟s license, Florida ID, or current passport

Take the Tests for Adult Basic Education (reading, math and language diagnostic)

Attend an orientation. Refer to the ABE/GED program section of this catalog for additional information regarding orientation.

TESTS OF ADULT BASIC EDUCATION (TABE) for ABE/GED Programs
ABE/GED programs require students take Test of Adult Education (TABE). TABE is a computerized reading, mathematics, and language basic skills exam, which takes approximately three hours to complete. The tests are used to help determine students‟ course of study. Stop by student services to register for the test.

ADMISSION PROCEDURES FOR VOCATIONAL PREPATORY INSTRUCTION
Take the Tests for Adult Basic Education (TABE). Choose one of the following options:

Students who are interested in self-paced preparation and would like to attend day classes must meet report to the Student Services Office Monday through
Friday between the hours of 8:00 and 2:30 .

For evening classes. Students are registered continuously Monday-Thursday 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

ADMISSION FOR ENGLISH LITERACY FOR CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION (ELCATE)

Day Classes
Day program admission is limited. If you are interested in a day program, stop by student services to place your name on the waiting list. Student services will call you when there is space available.

Evening Classes
If you are interested in an evening class. Classes are offered Monday-Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Stop by the evening programs desk after 5:30 p.m. to schedule an appointment to take the test.

The programs of instruction at ITECH are designed to assist individuals in gaining the skills and knowledge that they need to obtain employment or to advance in their current occupations. Programs offered at ITECH are: Vocational Certificate Program – A course of study that leads to at least one occupational completion point. Continuing Workforce Education Course – A course that does not result in a Vocational Certificate, Applied Technology Diploma, or a Vocational Degree.

Adult Education Programs – Programs designed to provide basic skills in reading, mathematics, and language for career preparation, English literacy for career and technical education programs (ELCATE), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and high school equivalency preparation. Apprenticeships Programs - Students enter into an agreement with a participating employer, which includes paid employment, and receive a minimum of 144 hours of related training and 2000 hours of on-the-job training each year.

ITECH offers over 15 certificate programs with most being offered during the day. Most of the certificate programs are full time. Completion of a high school diploma or GED might be required for some programs. In addition, taking the TABE or providing proof of a college degree at the associates in applied science level or higher from a regionally accredited U.S. College is a requirement for most programs.

For additional admission requirements for specific certificate programs refer to the program section in this catalog or stop by and visit one of our Workforce Education Advisors. Workforce Education Advisors are available Monday –Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. to answer your questions.

Pay a $30 non-refundable application fee (voided after 30 days) and take the TABE or show proof of an associate or higher degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. Consult with a workforce education advisor after testing for interpretation of scores and specific program admission information. Complete the required registration forms and pay semester tuition and other fees at the student services offices at least two weeks prior to the first day of class. Students receiving financial aid must present award notifications or payment vouchers from applicable funding source. Students are not permitted to enter a class if tuition and fees are not paid. Attend a new student orientation prior to or on the first day of class.

Readmission: Student readmission for certificate programs, with the exception of health programs, is based on the availability of space in the program and the earliest date that all entrance requirements are met. The applicant must: Re-enter within one year of withdrawal date and contact the appropriate Workforce Education Advisor to determine specific requirements for readmission into the program. Complete an application to ITECH and pay applicable semester tuition and lab fees.

Admissions: The chart below specifies additional admission criteria required for Health Science programs, as applicable.

Practical Nursing - TEAS Assessment demonstrating the ability to benefit from the program.

All students must enroll in the student accident and liability insurance policy.

Accredited high school diploma or GED required Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) card with basic life support for Health Care Provider from one of the approved programs:
o American Heart Association - Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
o American Red Cross - Professional Rescuer
o Check online for information regarding classes in our area.
o Students must maintain these certifications throughout the program.

Physical on iTECH form. This physical includes immunization information as well as general physical health.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Background Check and Drug Screen per iTECH policy. This policy is available upon request.

Interview prior to registration.

Minimum age requirement.

Written essay on selected topic.

Readmission: All regular admissions requirements must be met (as described above for beginning Health Science Students) along with the following additional requirements:

Students must re-apply within one year of drop date if transfer credit is desired. This is related to changes in technology and content that may occur after student has withdrawn if greater than one year.

Phasing back and repeating areas of theory and/or clinical instruction will be on a space-available basis and requires a meeting with the Health Science Director.

After a student has been readmitted once to any Health Science Program any subsequent readmissions require permission from the Health Science Director after the student has waited one year. The third admission to a program requires the student to start the program from the beginning of the course.

Prior to readmission to Practical Nursing, student must take the pharmacology drug calculations exam and score at least 90%. If 90% is not achieved student will be readmitted beginning with the pharmacology portion of the program on a space available basis.

Students must meet exit level TABE scores prior to readmission.

TRANSFER: Students transferring from another health science program within the State of Florida must meet the following:

Student must meet with the Workforce Education Advisor with official transcripts from former school.

Student will be asked to perform clinical competencies before being admitted to ITECH programs to assure level of clinical ability. The instructor of the desired program will evaluate skill proficiency and make recommendations.

Student must be transferring from a school with accreditation and licensing the same or higher than ITECH.

Practical Nursing and Articulated Certified Nursing Assistant transfer students must be transferring from a State of Florida approved program and must provide proof that HIV/AIDS content has been successfully completed.

Licensed Certified Nursing Assistants must provide proof of completion from a Board approved program within the last 2 years to be given credit for the 165 hours of program study. Otherwise, the 165 hours must be repeated from an approved program.

Student must meet exit level TABE score prior to transfer to all year long programs.
