Program Description The ELL program focuses on learning English through reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills required to get a job, get promoted, and communicate in the community. Students will expand their knowledge of the English language and have a chance to practice using computer programs, hands-on activities, and small group projects.

How do I enroll in a class to learn English? First go to ITECH’s Student Services Department and make an appointment to take the CASAS test. This test will determine how well you read, write, and understand English. Then you will complete How many class levels of English are there? There are three class levels – beginning, intermediate, and advanced. How much do English classes cost? Starting in August 2011, the state of Florida mandates that there be a $30 tuition charge per semester. A semester is approximately 5 months. How long will it take me to learn to speak, read or write English? It is different for each person. It depends on how much you already know, how much you come to class, how much you practice speaking English outside of class, and how much you study. What is the attendance policy? Day classes are in session from Monday through Friday. Night classes run from Monday through Thursday. A student who is absent for six days in a row is dropped from the class. What are the hours of the ELL classes? There are four time slots for day classes. They are: 8:00 – 11:25 AM, 9:00 – 11:25 AM, 8:00 AM – 2:15 PM and 12:00 – 2:15 PM. Night classes are from 6:00 – 8:30 PM |
