The Immokalee Technical College is the newest state-of-the art technical training center in Florida, providing career and technical education programs for high school students and adults. In addition to the post-secondary adult career and technical training programs, iTECH also offers ABE/GED and adult literacy programs.
All programs have active business partners who function beyond the traditional advisory capacity found in most technical schools. Under our model, local businesses and associations adopt programs and serve as foundations for curriculum development, financial assistance, connection activities (internships, job shadowing opportunities, professional in residence, etc.), and job placement assistance for graduates.
The town of Immokalee, which means “my home” in Seminole, started out as a ranching town in the 1800’s, but has blossomed into the center of the region’s agricultural industry. Immokalee is home to a wide variety of cultures and ethnicities that bring life and beauty to this community.
One of the unique facets of the college is that it includes site-based businesses established through open-to-the-public store fronts. The storefronts include: a cyber café and full restaurant, a practicing medical office, an automotive service center, a childcare center, and a cosmetology salon. The storefronts serve several purposes: they give students direct training opportunities which incorporate customer service skills into the experience, while also acting as a conduit for marketing to future students.
