Program Description
This course will provide clinical experiences necessary for the development of the skills required to be a competent cosmetologist. The allocation of time to the various phases of cosmetology is prescribed by the Florida State Board of Cosmetology. This course includes portions of the hours required for licensing. Topics to be covered include: permanent waving and relaxers, hair color and bleaching, skin, scalp and hair treatments, hair cutting, styling dispensary, manicure/pedicure/nail techniques, reception, safety precautions/decontamination, and Hazardous Duty Standards Act compliance, advanced styling and hair shaping, industry concepts, and exposure to a salon setting.
Preparation for Employment
This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in the cosmetology field. The content includes, but is not limited to, practical clinical experiences and theory. Students engage learning on live models, manikins, demonstrations and computer base technology.
Certifications
► Certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete the program competencies and satisfy basic skills exit requirements in accordance with state guidelines.

Portfolio
Cosmetology students prepare a portfolio that highlights the skills they learned in order to prepare them for a challenging career. Students will create a portfolio including: before and after photos, a resume, reference letters, awards, and a certificate of completion.

Q. How long is the cosmetology course?
A. Attendance is very important in the Cosmetology Program: 1200 attended hrs are required from the State Board of Cosmetology.
Q. Do we offer full and part-time classes?
A. Unfortunately at this time we only offer a full time day class. Mon-Friday 8:00 am to 2:30 pm We are offering a Nail specialty program coming soon! If interested contact student services to be put on a waiting list.
Q. By attending the Cosmetology program will I learn how to apply make-up?
A. Yes cosmetology plays a huge role in the beauty industry which also includes becoming a makeup artist.
Q. When I complete the 1200 hrs of the program will I receive my cosmetology license?
A. Since we work directly with the Florida Board of Cosmetology, after completion of required hours and services you will receive a certification of completion. Following that, you will take Florida state board test. After passing the state board test you will then receive your Florida license.
